There's no denying we're a little spoiled living in Los Angeles. Considering the perks...like sunshine, palm trees, Aziz Ansari sightings...it's surprising we'd be sitting here in our open toe shoes wishing we were feeling the chill of an autumn breeze. But even if we can't feel fall, we can still taste it. So, we bring you a delicious recipe for ginger snap cookies courtesy of Smitten Kitchen

What you need

(Makes about 4 dozen)

We drove an hour outside of Los Angeles, just for delicious beer. It was worth it. Walking into The Bruery Provisions store in Orange, CA was like walking into the best kitchen in America, which is fitting considering the brewery was born out of a kitchen. Patrick Rue began home brewing during law school, and decided to leave law behind for craft beer. Boy, are we glad that he did.

Making wine is a rewarding process that doesn’t have to be hidden in somebody’s basement. Developed by Sabine Marcelis, “Housewine” celebrates the process of wine-making with streamlined appeal. Watch this home-brew instillation in action.

It’s hard to believe that Hanukkah has arrived, and Christmas is right around the corner. With all the hustle and bustle surrounding the holidays, wouldn’t it be nice to finally take a step back and soak it all in with a fireside cocktail and sweet treats?

Here are two of our favorite festive recipes. So put down the wrapping paper, crank up the tunes (may we suggest 18 Plays: Winter 2011?), and indulge.

Mapletini

Percolator, electric drip, or French press? There are many choices when it comes to brewing coffee. The folks at Intelligentsia seem to think the Chemex Brewer is tops, so they made this instructional video to show us how it’s done. Music for the video is by the "astounding circus punk marching band", Mucca Pazza

Sure, you’ve had pumpkin pie, pumpkin seeds, and probably even pumpkin bagels. But we bet you’ve never had a Pumpkin Pie White Hot Chocolate, have ya? As the weather cools down, and the holidays rush up, this tasty treat is just what the doctor ordered.

We recently made the long awaited trip to the Father’s Office in Culver City, CA. Already big fans of their Santa Monica location (a very quaint, almost elbow to elbow dining room), we were curious how the brews would hold up in a much bigger space. Lo and behold, it was better than we had anticipated. With a beautiful lacquered bar showcasing an even bigger craft beer selection, they found a way to enhance the experience, without taking away from its original charm.
